We use age old techniques to create inventive, contemporary jewellery in small batches so you always know you're wearing an original.
Oolo is grounded in a raw, brutalist aesthetic, working with materials 'as found'. And, like the ancient Japanese tradition of Wabi-Sabi, that appreciates natural beauty, imperfections and the life cycle of objects, we like the undulations and marks created during the process of making. We like experimenting with materials to see what they can show us.
Our designs come from a stream of consciousness born from everyday life. Creative ideas may be sparked by a song, a story, a shape, a movement, a conversation or a memory. The politics of everyday life are profound and can be found in the smallest of interactions. Our pieces are born of this creative and social landscape. We like the asymmetry of influences crashing together and that's how we design, with asymmetry in mind. We create elements that can be interpreted and self assembled so you can manage your own style.
We want you to give you to tools to exude your power and beauty the way you choose.
Using good quality recycled materials and keeping waste down are of paramount importance to us.
We work with mostly solid materials to create pieces that have longevity. 90% of our pieces are made from recycled, solid gold & silver.
As a way to keep costs down, We've started working with brass and do offer the option of high quality gold filled pieces in some collections.
Gold filled is higher quality than plating and has a life span of 10-30 years of wear.
We source approximately 80%
of our gems in resale environments.
We hand make small batches so that each collection is more unique and to keep waste to a minimum.
Any off cuts that are inevitably left over are reused to make special limited edition items like our Virtuous Circle Charm and our She's Such A Stud! Series.
Our packaging is sourced
in the UK, and is made
with recycled, vegan &
re-usable materials.
Oolo is the creative endeavour of Lynn Harris Clark. Originally from Houston Texas, she trained as a jewellery designer and sculptor in the 1990's.
Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design brought her to London in 2000, where she has spent the past two decades immersed in art and design.
She was a practicing conceptual artist and founded an artist's book publishing practice. She also worked with clients in graphic design and interior design.
After having children, she realised that she missed the zen-like act of conceptualising and making jewellery and decided to start her own practice, hand making original pieces once again.
Her creative output is a confluence of this journey to make meaning with material.
“Jewellery is a language that doesn’t need words. It speaks volumes about who we are and what we hold dear.” – Unknown
